Hummingbird Yurt

  • Ceiling and Interior Walls

Salvaged old growth fir from the Olympic peninsula from logs that were cut a century ago. While at the time they were too costly to yard out, JADE obtained this wood for a home on Whidbey. It has characteristic patches of purple coloration and white specks which make the appearance unique.

  • Ceiling Boards

Steam bent to achieve the curve in the roof.

  • Floor (and Legs)

Douglas Fir. From a tree that blew down in an intense storm in December, 2006.

    *Removable legs.

  • Exterior Siding

Shou Sugi Ban Western Red Cedar for the exterior walls, and the ceiling of the space below the yurt.

  • Spire
